West 116th

“West 116th” is based on the street my aunt’s apartment was on in Harlem, NY. It reminds me of growing up dancing with new people, going to shows that inspired my ambitions, and celebrating Black art and expression around me.

W116 represents everything I want my art to be: driven by creativity, capturing and connecting to movement, and being grounded in family and community.

I created this blog in 2023 to document my exploration of dance beyond my own physicality.
