About

Growing up, Kayla studied ballet, pointe, contemporary, and jazz, and honed her ballet and pointe work at intensives including San Francisco Ballet, School of American Ballet, Nashville Ballet, and American Ballet Theatre. Her deep love of dance made her curious beyond her high school training, and her goal upon graduating was to broaden her perspective of dance and become a more well-rounded artist.

She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, where she added vernacular jazz, hip-hop, and heels to her training. While earning her degree she performed works by Justin Peck, Tessandra Chavez, William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, and George Balanchine. She also completed a Minor in Communication Design at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and Roski School of Art and Design.

Since graduating, Kayla has found a love for musical theater and uses it as a space to bring her full training and versatility to large-scale productions. She recently completed her run performing in the 2nd National Tour of Wicked as the Witch’s Mother in the ensemble.

She is currently performing with the national tour of The Phantom of the Opera in the ballet chorus and understudying the role of Meg Giry. Her dedication to training across genres has now pushed her to grow as a singer. She feels blessed to perform and to use her artistic knowledge to develop characters onstage.

Kayla is dedicated to continuing to define her artistic identity across performing communities and to inspiring other dancers to embrace their unique perspectives, remain open to new experiences, and pursue their craft with authenticity.
